An Accessory — Screenplay
Cindy is a RealGirl™ genetically engineered to be the perfect companion but when her owner involves her in a hideous crime, Cindy must break free of her programming—before she is 'retired' by an unstoppable corporate assassin.
Inspired by Fargo, Blade Runner, and the writing of Taylor Sheridan, An Accessory is a black comedy examination of free will, obsolescence, & corporate overreach.
Career Criminal — Pitch Trailer
This is a pitch video for the show I had intended to serve as the follow-up for True Blue, Career Criminal. Criminal would have been another improvised drama, but where True Blue was a police procedural inspired by Broadchurch, True Detective, and Homicide, Criminal was inspired by the films of Nicolas Winding Refn and Micheal Mann: slick, stylish stories about professional criminals operating at a high level and the toll their work takes on their personal lives.
House Sitter — Short Story
“My bare foot covers the bird almost completely, only the very tip of its face peeks out between my toes. I feel several small, thin pops but the thing doesn't die. I put more weight on the foot and the feeling of soft feathers covering sharp, snapping bone sears itself into my memory. The bird lets out one last squeak, like air being pushed through a thin straw, and dies. I bring my foot up and suck in a lungful of air. I look away and the cat is sitting at the edge of the garden, framed by tall stalks of green, staring at me.”
On The Shores Of A Methane Sea — Short Story
“I knew what he would do because it's what I would do.
I woke up to a notice that my retainer had been cancelled. Either I had been fired from the department, or someone who looked just like me had committed a murder.”
Treasure Hunt — Short Story
“The whole place was a mess, soaked in rainwater and reclaimed by the swamp. It was a total garbage heap and I had no confidence we'd find anything of value. And that's when we got attacked by a fucking ghost.”
Tech Support — Monologue
“There is a protocol for unwanted or obsolete androids, a key phrase you speak to us to shut us down. Then you call Samsung or Apple or whatever and they can either pick us up or you can drop us off at any retail location for recycling. Sandy hadn’t written down my key phrase and the new family couldn’t be bothered to google it. They told me to “Get lost.” So I did.”
